Project  1280

7 in 10 Women Who Have Had an Abortion Identify as a Christian (1)

That's what they concluded as a result of a 2015 study conducted by Lifeway Research®. (2)  They found that women keep silent in church both before and after ending a pregnancy through abortion.

Sadly, many Christian women and men are too afraid to share their truth about abortion for fear of being judged by others in and outside the church. The notion that Christians are supposed to be "flawless" has placed an enormous amount of pressure on people. It is the very thing that perpetuates secrecy, guilt and shame.

Don't lose hope. Things are changing for the better! Every day, there are boots on the ground reaching out to our local churches and faith centers in an attempt to help shift church culture.  Education is available to help pastors and church leaders learn more about how to help post-abortive women and men in their own congregations. We want to see churches being hospitals and recovery centers for the hurting and wounded not houses of glass and pretense. Reach out to me if you would like more information about this.

In the meantime, Project 1280 is here to fill in the gaps. The emotional and spiritual pain of post-abortion is real, whether it took place 5-months ago or 50-years ago.  We want you to know, you are not alone. If you belong to a church or don't belong to a church, we are here to help, support and encourage you along the way.  The goal is to help you discover freedom from guilt, shame and secrecy that often accompanies the after-math of an abortion decision. Secondly, our goal is to help you prepare to share your story so that  others can find freedom in sharing theirs.  © Polly Lunetto  March 2023. All rights reserved.
